Details of regulated airspace in the Damascus FIR, including Terminal Control Areas (TMA), Control Zones (CTR), and other defined airspace, are published in the relevant AD sections for each aerodrome.
Military exercise and training areas may be activated by NOTAM.
Airspace Categories (AIP ENR 2.2)
There are two categories of airspace within the Damascus FIR:

ATC Services Along Airways
Air traffic control is provided along airways within control areas. All ATS within the Damascus FIR are provided by the Damascus Area Control Centre (ACC). The axis of each airway is constituted by a line connecting significant points identified by radio navigation facilities.
Coordination between operators and ATS units is effected in accordance with ICAO Annex 11 (Para 2.15) and ICAO Doc 4444 PANS-ATM (Para 6.3.3.3).
Special Procedures for Aircraft Overflying Syria
- Aircraft entering Syrian territory must operate along the centre-line of ATS routes specified in ENR 3
- Establish two-way radio contact with Damascus ACC on 121.300 MHz five minutes before crossing the Damascus FIR boundary
- Aircraft arriving from TUSYR and NISAP must contact Aleppo Tower on 119.100 MHz
- Maintain a continuous listening watch on 121.300 MHz throughout the flight
- Pilots must inform Damascus ACC on VHF of any navigation aid system failure or malfunction affecting their flight
Responsible Authority
The authority responsible for the overall administration of ATS provided for international civil aviation is the Directorate of Air Traffic Management (ATM) within the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority (GACA).
