ENR 5.2 — Military Exercise and Training Areas and Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ)

1. General

All airspace in which a potential hazard to aircraft operations may exist and all areas over which the operation of civil aircraft may, for any reason, be restricted, either temporarily or permanently, are all enclosed within prohibited, restricted, or danger areas. These areas, including their times of activity, are listed in ENR 5.1.

2. System and Method of Activation

The activation of restricted and dangerous airspace is coordinated between the military authorities and the Damascus Air Traffic Control Center. Pilots are notified of restricted airspace via Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and air traffic control clearances. In areas where no restricted airspace exists, passage is permitted subject to air traffic control approval. Flying outside designated en route is prohibited under any circumstances without the approval of the air traffic control center and coordination with the military authorities.

3. Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ)
