Aeronautical information products and AIRAC

The AIP contains permanent and long-duration temporary information essential to air navigation. Amendments incorporate permanent changes. Supplements contain temporary changes of three months or longer, or shorter changes requiring extensive text or graphics. AICs provide technical, legislative or administrative advice. Applicable checklists identify publications and NOTAMs in force.

Operationally significant AIRAC changes use internationally agreed effective dates at 28-day intervals. Information is to reach users at least 28 days beforehand; 56 days is recommended for major changes where practicable. AIRAC is distinct from the regular amendment interval in GEN 0.1. Publication and effective dates appear in GEN 0.2 and the applicable issued product.
