GEN 1.3 — Entry, Transit and Departure of Passengers and Crew
Passport and Visa Requirements
All passengers and crew entering the Syrian Arab Republic must hold valid travel documents. Entry requirements include:
- Valid passport with minimum 6 months validity beyond intended stay
- Entry visa (obtained in advance from a Syrian diplomatic mission, unless exempt)
- Crew members on duty: valid crew licence and general declaration (accepted as transit document for stays under 72 hours)
Transit Passengers
Transit passengers remaining within the international transit area of the airport and continuing on the same or connecting flight within 24 hours may not require a visa, subject to nationality-specific regulations.
Customs Regulations
- Personal effects and reasonable quantities of duty-free goods may be imported
- Currency: foreign currency may be freely brought in but must be declared if exceeding USD 5,000 equivalent
- Prohibited items: narcotics, weapons (without permit), items contrary to public order
- Export of antiquities is strictly prohibited
Health Requirements
No mandatory vaccination requirements are in effect. Current international health regulations apply. Passengers arriving from yellow fever endemic areas may be required to present a valid vaccination certificate.
Crew Entry
Flight crew members in possession of a valid crew member certificate and listed on the general declaration are permitted entry without a visa for the purpose of operating or deadheading, for stays not exceeding 72 hours.
